India – Holi Festival

Holi Festival

This Hindu festival of joy, mirth and buoyancy is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun according to the Hindu calendar. During the three festival days, the streets, parks, public places and people who intentionally and unintentionally wander these places are covered in bright colours. Holi marks the arrival of the spring season, and therefore brings warmth in the air. Once a year all emotions of the country are gathered in one place. It is filled with happiness and joy, but it too often ends out of control. With unsupervised alcohol and drug usage all emotions are mixed in the streets of this crowded overpopulated nation. At dawn of the last day everyone and everything gets back to normal… till the next Holi!
